Meta has introduced a new feature allowing US users to video chat with Muse, its AI agent, through a customizable animated avatar ahead of a planned wearable device release.
Meta has officially launched Muse Voice, a feature that enables users in the United States to engage in voice and video chats with their Muse AI avatar. Announced on November 5, 2026, this feature was first unveiled at Meta’s Connect developer conference in September, with new AI technologies powering the experience, including Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice. These technologies facilitate live conversations with Muse represented as an animated avatar named Jolly – a visually engaging character that users can customize to appear as a person, an animal, or other characters.
Unlike many AI virtual assistants that offer voice interactions alone, Muse’s animated presence uses subtle facial expressions and gestures that align with the conversation’s tone, aiming to create a stronger emotional connection between users and their AI. Meta exec Alexandr Wang demonstrated this interaction by showing how his Muse, styled as a fluffy white dog, could humorously advise on adding disclaimers to memes he posts.
Meta plans to build on this real-time interaction by launching Muse Charm, a Tamagotchi-like wearable device expected before the end of the year. The device will display Muse’s avatar on a small screen, allowing users direct conversations and the ability for Muse to handle tasks through the wearable. Currently, Muse Voice is supported on mobile devices, web, and Mac platforms, with forthcoming support planned for Meta’s AI Glasses and Muse Charm hardware.
This development highlights Meta’s strategy to deepen engagement with AI by personifying digital assistants, creating a more personalized and interactive experience. As AI agents become more integrated into daily life, products like Muse and its supporting hardware may represent a new wave of consumer AI interaction.
