The Enough Phone offers a small 5.3-inch design with a removable battery and runs either stock Android or the minimalist OdysseyOS, targeting users seeking alternatives to large phones. The Kickstarter campaign has exceeded half its $250,000 goal.
In a market dominated by increasingly large smartphones, the Enough Phone aims to fill the niche for users who prefer a more compact form factor without compromising performance or software choice. Created by Brennan Jordan and Austin Boer, who also co-founded Sleke, the phone is now funded through Kickstarter with ambitions to ship in May 2027.
The Enough Phone features a 5.3-inch display, a user-replaceable 3,500mAh battery, and packs a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 chipset alongside 8GB of RAM. Camera capabilities include a 50-megapixel Sony sensor on the rear. These specs place the device roughly in the size range of what previous small smartphones like the iPhone Mini offered, a category Jordan and Boer themselves favored.
Users can choose to run either stock Android or OdysseyOS, a minimalist operating system developed by Sleke designed to reduce distraction. Sleke currently offers refurbished Pixel 8 and 9 phones with OdysseyOS preinstalled, but recognized that some customers desired a smaller device. Collaborating with Will Stults, who brings smartphone manufacturing experience and runs the Dumbwireless store for non-smartphones, allowed the team to develop this bespoke compact smartphone.
Developing new hardware in 2026 has been challenging due to ongoing global chip and RAM shortages, impacting pricing and component availability. The Enough Phone Kickstarter campaign provides early backers with discounts, but the anticipated retail price is about $599. Jordan and Boer intend to remain self-funded to maintain control over long-term software support commitments and product priorities.
Despite supply chain hurdles, production tooling has commenced and the project remains on schedule with plans to ship in May 2027, though shortages could still cause delays. The Enough Phone seeks to revive interest in truly small smartphones at a time when major manufacturers have largely abandoned that segment—Apple’s last iPhone Mini appeared five years ago, and other small phone options have either disappeared or sacrificed performance.
Boer acknowledges the difficulties but sees current circumstances as an opportunity, summing up their impetus: "Let’s just do it ourselves. Enough is enough." The Enough Phone represents a deliberate push to offer an alternative for users tired of oversized devices, minimal operating systems that suit smaller screens, and the desire for hardware that is both practical and sustainably minded.
