Teenage Engineering released the EP-35, a battery-powered instrument amplifier featuring multi-input connectivity, preset-based effects for guitar and vocals, Bluetooth streaming and stereo pairing, plus optional wireless MIDI pedal control.

Swedish company Teenage Engineering, known for its innovative music devices, has expanded into instrument amplification with the newly launched EP-35. This multi-input, battery-powered amplifier caters to musicians needing portable amplification with versatile effects and connectivity options.

The EP-35 includes a line-in port, a 1/4-inch guitar input, and an XLR input compatible with microphones, including those needing phantom power, enabling use with a range of instruments and vocal mics. In addition to wired inputs, the amp supports Bluetooth audio streaming and can wirelessly connect multiple EP-35 units via Bluetooth Auracast. When paired in stereo, physically tilting an amp to the left or right assigns the unit to the corresponding stereo channel, enhancing the user experience with an intuitive hardware gesture.

Teenage Engineering designed the effects processing to be style-oriented rather than granular. For guitar and vocal channels, users select from presets like "blues," "indie," and "twang" for guitar or "radio" and "robo choir" for vocals, each representing a curated effect combination. A single knob adjusts the intensity of the selected preset, simplifying effect control without detailed tweaking.

Augmenting the system, Teenage Engineering offers accessories such as the "amptenna," which converts the amp into an FM radio, and the EP-127 KO Pedal. The KO Pedal is a wireless MIDI controller that provides expanded control over the amp's effects, includes a looper and metronome, and features an expression pedal jack for volume control on selected channels. The pedal’s 3.5mm MIDI output and HID controller functionality allow integration with other synthesizers, pedals, or computer video playback.

Available now for $399, the EP-35 aims to appeal to musicians seeking a compact, flexible amplifier solution with modern wireless features and creative effects presets.
