Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has called on Kazakhstan to harness its abundant energy resources as a foundation for advancing artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing the nation’s potential to not just export natural energy but to convert it into exported intelligence. Huang made these remarks during the Alem.AI event, held in collaboration with Kazakhstan’s Minister of AI and Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiyev, marking a key stop on his recent Europe and Central Asia tour promoting AI technologies.
Highlighting the transformative power of AI in physical industries, Huang and Minister Madiyev discussed how AI, particularly in its application to sectors such as mining, could help modernize and optimize Kazakhstan’s core economic activities. Huang endorsed the government’s vision that physical AI can drive efficiency and innovation within the country's resource-driven economy.
In support of these aspirations, Nvidia disclosed an investment in Higgsfield AI, a Kazakh startup specializing in AI-driven video and image creation. This investment underscores Nvidia’s commitment to nurturing local AI talent and fostering innovation ecosystems. Additionally, Huang participated in formalizing a data center project, already announced, which is expected to further bolster Kazakhstan's AI infrastructure.
During his visit, Huang was honored with an honorary black belt in Judo, reflecting a cultural exchange that complemented the business initiatives. Nvidia’s engagement in Kazakhstan reflects a broader strategy to promote AI adoption globally, especially in regions with significant natural resources looking to capitalize on digital transformation.
These developments suggest that Kazakhstan is positioning itself to transition from a traditional energy exporter to an AI-driven economy, leveraging Nvidia’s expertise and investments to build technological capabilities that could benefit multiple industries across the country.
